Grade not what you expected?

We hope that you receive the grades you need to progress to your next stage.  However, every year there are some students who are disappointed with their results.  Examinations measure only your performance on the day and candidates can do better or worse than anticipated for all sorts of reasons.  If you have serious concerns about your received grade, please contact the Examinations Officer, Mrs Botcher (nbotcher@soham-college.org.uk).  Please note that Mrs Botcher will be available until midday on Thursday 22 August and then not until Monday 2 September.  Exam boards offer a results service whereby scripts can be reviewed to not only ensure that all clerical procedures have been followed, but also that examiners have marked externally assessed components correctly.  Exam boards do charge for this service and fees range from £40 to nearly £60 per component/paper.  Soham Village College has set a deadline of Thursday 19 September to receive any enquiries about results to ensure there is sufficient time to process any applications. Requests received after 19 September are not guaranteed to meet the deadline, although every effort will be made.

Further information is available from Reviews of Marking, Access to Scripts and Appeals

Collection of GCSE Controlled Assessments / Technology Coursework

Written and practical controlled assessments are not routinely returned.  However, if you do require these, please contact the school reception towards the end of September (01353 724100).  Items are not available for collection until the beginning of October.  Please note that you will need to make our own arrangements to collect.  Any items which remain uncollected by the end of December will be disposed of.
