Teacher of English

Salary Range £22,917 to £38,633
(Salary is dependent upon qualifications, skills and experience)

Required from September 2018: an enthusiastic teacher of English to join a dynamic and collaborative faculty with a history of outstanding results. This post will be suitable for either newly qualified or more experienced teachers.

The school is oversubscribed and enjoys a considerable reputation in the local area for its academic excellence and caring ethos. In December 2016, Ofsted described the way in which the school promotes students’ personal development and its work to support students as outstanding.

Ofsted also identified “a culture of academic excellence” which is consistently reflected in the school’s GCSE results. The progress made by students in English is significantly above average.

There is a strong culture of teaching and learning in the school and staff value highly the continuing professional development and research opportunities available. Ofsted praised the “good opportunities for staff to develop professionally” and commented that “staff are highly positive about the training they receive.” In addition they reported that “newly qualified teachers speak effusively about the support they receive.”

There are varied opportunities for career progression for staff at all levels.

Exam Invigilators

(Required from March/April 2018)

Hourly Rate £8.55

Soham Village College is seeking to recruit invigilators to add to its already excellent and committed team.

You will help ensure that students take their exams in a calm and comfortable atmosphere, offering them support as required by the regulations.

Applicants are required to be regularly available at key exam times throughout the academic year and fully available between the months of May and June during the GCSE examination period. 

Opportunities for additional responsibility as a Chief Invigilator may be available after a suitable period. 

Full training will be provided to you for this role.
